Last week I even got an email from nbci
that promoted our listing to a No 1 position in the Reviewed
Sites section without even having submitted for the upgrade.
However, this oddity may not last may
not last long, so you
need to act quickly since NBCi is in the process of making a
lot of changes. I just received an email that the 'Reviewed Sites''
category is now getting $199 for a consideration submittal.
The nbci site is powered by Inktomi, a major search
engine providing listings to many 'retail' Search Engines',
but NBCi also allows submittals directly to their website.
The results show in different sections as follows
1. Reviewed Sites or Top Sites
2. Member Submitted Sites
3. Additional Sites.
4. Search Marketplace
If you submit to NBCi, you will be listed
under "Member Submitted Sites" not "Reviewed Sites"
unless you pay the fee.
In the case of many 'keywords',
you will find there are only a few listings in the "Reviewed
Sites" section and so that is where you want to be !
If you can get listed in the top ten
under "Member Submitted" sites
you will have
a very strong position.
Check your 'keyword' categories and see how many "reviewed
Sites" have been listed and then submit to the categories
that only have a few listings in the "Reviewed Sites"
section.
I have had great success in the past
few weeks in getting pages listed in the top ten and in some
cases as high as Number 1.
In on case, I achieved a Number 3 and a Number 4
In order to submit to NBCi, you must go to their site and
open an account with them.< http://home.nbci.com/>. Look
to the large dark blue band at the bottom of the page where it
says: "Submit a Site".
Then, you need to select a "Category" , a "Sub-Category"
and probably a "Sub-Sub-Category".
Now, before you submit, you must enter
your 'keywords', 'title', description', and your 'site URL'.
Think carefully before you submit because your title and
description will be a part of your listing.
Now, I know that NBCi is not the leading
Search Engine, and that your hits will not be as great as if
you are listed in Yahoo
but I know from long experience
that when a major corporation commits itself to a program, they
are relentless at the pursuit of their goals and they will throw
tons of money at the project !!
Whether they are successful or not remains to be seen, but we
cannot afford to pass up a chance to take a free ride with the
big money being spent. Keep in mind
"It costs you
Nothing".
And "It won't last Forever".
Good Luck !! and happy submitting
